Baghdad in Exile: Music of Rahim Al-Haj February 26, 2011

With two Grammy nominations and numerous awards under his belt, Iraq-born oud master and composer Rahim Al-Haj has recorded and performed with the Kronos Quartet, the rock band REM, Bill Frisell, Ottmar Liebert, Mamadou Diabate, and many others. The School of Music's Dr. David Marcus leads this exciting project bringing Mr. Al-Haj's contemporary Arabic music to Atlanta, accompanied by an Arabic orchestra, including string and percussion students from the GSU School of Music.
