Celebrate the opening of the much-anticipated exhibition, Birth of the Cool, at B scene—the Blanton's monthly art party—with an evening of art and music devoted to 1950s West Coast style. Austin's funky soul-jazz trio Time Out get things going at 6:30 PM in the Smith Building. At 9 PM, don't miss a special performance by Blaze (Nu-Jazz/Funk/Experimental), voted Best Jazz Band in Austin for eight years in a row by the Austin Chronicle. Plus, groove to music by DJ Chicken George, as he spins in the atrium all night long, and enjoy tours of the new exhibition, art activities, free appetizers, a cash bar, and more.
