Avon Walk for Breast Cancer is a 2-day fundraising event in San Francisco, July 11-12 2009. I will walk 26.2 miles the first day and 13.1 the next day. I will raise $1800 to meet my personal fundraising goal. Asking friends and family is a challenge to me as finding the time to train, to donate towards this great cause. But a breast cancer diagnosis is much more difficult, and for that reason, I keep asking. Give in memory of those we've lost, those still fighting and those who one day be spared this fight because of what we are doing. Give to make yourself a part of a historical effort.
I walk in honor of my mom, who has been a survivor for nine years this July, for her sister, my Aunt, who was diagnosed in 2007, has finished her chemo and radiation, and has survived just over a year of being cancer free. I walk for myself, I have had a benign core biopsy. I walk for my daughter, and the future legacy of the women in my family.
I walk so that I can help empower women, researchers and doctors, so that someday, another loved one does not hear news from a family member, that someone they care for and love, has breast cancer.
That is why I walk...
I alone cannot fight to find the cure. But as a community, we all have friends, family, wives, daughters and sisters. Cancer does not discriminate. Show your support, make a quick easy donation, at www.avonwalk.org, ID # 963968. I am a resident of Stockton, honored to be helping to represent our community. Closing Ceremony is at 3pm July 12, 2009. Details are on my web page (www.avonwalk.org, ID# 963968), Awe-inspiring, so many coming together for a common cause...
