Originally from Tel Aviv, Israel, Avishai Cohen is one of the great young figures on the international jazz scene today. He has shared the stage with the great Bobby Hutcherson in the San Francisco Jazz Collective; has toured with French-Israeli chanteuse Keren Ann; and has co-led such outstanding ensembles as Third World Love, with Omer Avital, Daniel Freedman and Yonatan Avishai. He also leads a funk-oriented band with bassist Me'shell Ndegeocello and drummer Adam Deitch, and continues to perform extensively with the 3 Cohens, which he formed with his sister Anat and brother Yuval, both gifted reed players.
