AVEDON’S MODELS: THE OTHER SIDE OF THE LENS
Joseph Pescatore
Richard Avedon revolutionized fashion photography with his imaginative portrayals of beautiful women wearing extraordinary clothes in irresistible settings. His models—among them Suzy
Parker, Dovima, and China Michado—all became superstars of the era, well before Andy Warhol coined the term. Joseph Pescatore, a professor of apparel design at Nassau Community College and adjunct instructor in fashion design at Parsons The New School for Design, discusses some of the glamorous women who collaborated with Avedon and, in the process, forever changed the world of fashion.
