Tenth year. Tenth month. Tenth day.
The supporters, volunteers, staff and clients of AVDA (Aid to Victims of Domestic Violence, Inc.) picked a special date to commemorate a full decade of helping to create a community of survivors. On October 10, 2009, AVDA will hold its 10th Annual Run-Walk by the Sea. The race begins at 7:30 a.m.
Held in Anchor Park in Delray Beach, which borders beaches along the Atlantic Ocean, the scenic event attracted more than 350 participants, volunteers and supporters last year for a day of fitness and fun. 2008’s 5K raised more than $50,000 for domestic abuse programs and outreach.
Truly a family occasion, the 2009 5K Run/Walk will include a Family Fun Mile Race and a Kids’ Race for children 6 and under.
“We welcome our new supporters to come celebrate with us and we welcome our continual supporters to come remember with us,” said AVDA Executive Director Pam O’Brien. “Many faces we see year after year, so they know just how special this particular 5K will be. Thank you to everyone who makes it possible for us to save families and build communities. Every runner, every volunteer and every sponsor has made a difference in someone’s life.”
