Autumnal Amble & Apple Picking at Los Rios Rancho in Oak Glen, San Bernardino County, Difficulty=moderate October 16, 2010

Visit the The Wildlands Conservancy's historic Los Rios Rancho Preserve in Oak Glen. Follow a professional naturalist through a diversity of habitats, featuring mature chaparral, shady oak woodland, lush streamside, freshwater marsh, and historic apple orchard. Identify plants and wildlife. Pick heirloom apples to eat under the shade of ancient black oaks at Oak Knoll Park. Bring snacks and/or picnic lunch.

"We've got beautiful weather and beautiful scenery up here in mile-high Oak Glen, where the temperature is always 10 to 15 degrees cooler than in the cities. Apple Season is in full swing and we are blessed with a bumper crop - one of the largest we've ever seen."

U-pick Cost: $10 for 5 pound bag of apples.
