Once a year, the gates of the Smithsonian Conservation Biology Institute (SCBI) are opened to the public. Your family will never forget the trip to the beautiful foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains for an opportunity to meet our scientists and take a first-hand look at the science of conservation. Located in Front Royal, Virginia, SCBI is home to hundreds of endangered animals and the scientists who are working to save them. Activities include live music, cavalry maneuvers, and a scavenger hunt. Lunch and beverages, as well as Zoo-themed merchandise, will be available for purchase. All vehicles must have a car pass, which can be purchased for $30 and admits up to six guests; additional passengers will be charged $5 each at the gate.
