On January 28, 1986, 73 seconds into flight, the space shuttle Challenger exploded, killing all seven crew members.
Richard Cook, the author of a new book, "Challenger Revealed," was a NASA analyst and whistleblower on the state of the O-rings that contributed to the accident. He will visit the Williamsburg Library Theatre, 515 Scotland Street, on Friday, March 2 at 3 p.m. to discuss how the accident unfolded and how political and publicity pressures overrode safety concerns to force the launch. Cook will also have copies of his book available for purchase and signing.
