Nazareth College celebrates the life of civil rights leader Martin Luther King, Jr. through a series of special events on Monday, January 17, 2011, including a lecture by Keith D. Miller, author of Martin Luther King’s Biblical Epic: His Great, Final Speech (2011, University Press of Mississippi). The lecture is from 4:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., followed by a question and answer session, in the Callahan Theater of the Nazareth College Arts Center. Headlining the day’s events will be keynote speaker Keith D. Miller, Ph.D. Miller is professor of English at Arizona State University. When researching his first book, Voice of Deliverance: The Language of Martin Luther King, Jr., and Its Sources (1998, University of Georgia Press), he interviewed Martin Luther King, Sr., and numerous older members of Martin Luther King, Jr.'s home church in Atlanta. Miller has also written several, widely cited essays about the orations and autobiographies of King, Malcolm X, Jackie Robinson, and Myrlie Evers-Williams. He has lectured at many universities and conferences and has consulted with the editors of the Martin Luther King, Jr., Papers Project at Stanford University.
