Austin Social Scene’s Annual New Year’s Eve Gala has earned a reputation as one of the most unique party experiences in the nation. For 18 years, Austin’s professional singles, couples and groups have come together to celebrate the New Year with style and elegance, long past the stroke of midnight.
This year, Austin's only nonstop, all-night New Year's Eve parties will take place at the Crowne Plaza Hotel, 6121 North IH-35 at 290 East and The DoubleTree Austin North, 6505 North IH-35 at La Posada.
For guests with hotel packages, the evening begins at 7pm with a complimentary pre-party at the hotel with an open bar and light hors d'oeuvres. During the pre-party, attending guests will be given early entrance to the Main Ballroom so they may secure themselves the best seats in the house.
The Gala will begin at 8pm and the party will kick off immediately with live music and cash bars conveniently located throughout the hotel offering premium liquor, imported and domestic beer, champagne and fine wines from around the world.
THE CROWN PLAZA PARTY
At the Crowne Plaza we will be featuring Vallejo and Buzzfuel. The Dress for this party will be Texas Cocktail Attire. For men a Blazer will be required for entry to the party. For women cocktail dresses will be required. Please do not wear Jeans with a Blazer.
VALLEJO
A striking blend of swaggering rock grooves, potent guitar work, Latin percussion and soulful lyrics has made VALLEJO one of the most popular bands to hail from Austin. The band has won numerous awards including Best Rock Band two years in a row at the Austin Music Awards. VALLEJO has also had their songs featured in several TV shows such as WB’s Roswell, MTV’s Road Rules and UPN’s American Top Model.
BUZZFUEL
The Austin cover band Buzzfuel first started rocking central Texas in 1999, with the first of what would eventually be three lineups over the years. From the outset, Buzzfuel's focus has been high energy and danceable rock, with a definitive bias towards modern rock. While the band is not afraid to tap into the 70's and 80's, the 90's and 00's is what Buzzfuel is best known for. Hits from the likes of Sublime, Green Day, Lenny Kravitz, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Jet and Blink 182 come together to turn crowds into a frenzied mixture of dancing and bouncing that has left more than a few calves aching by the end of the night. And, of course, they bring with them hits from KISS, AC/DC, Cheap Trick, Lynyrd Skynyrd and many other classic powerhouses to ensure everyone feels the love. Buzzfuel's attention to detail, musical talent, and obsession with choosing songs that get people on the dance floor has made them a popular act at Austin's Cedar Street.
Two additional bands to be named later will play on the second stage in the west area of the hotel.
THE DOUBLETREE PARTY
The DoubleTree Hotel Party will be little more formal. Dress for men will be either a dark suit or a tuxedo. Dress for women will be cocktail dress or ball gown.
Purchasing a ticket to the galas entitles you to enter either party if you are appropriately attired.
NEWSBOYZ
Founded in 1996 and widely regarded as one of the most versatile bands around, the group keeps the dance floor packed from start to finish with everything from swing to retro to classic rock to country. Two distinct male vocalists compliment a terrific female vocalist to form a versatile and formidable vocal lineup. For non-stop dancing and the most professional overall presentation around.....The Newsboyz deliver!
SUEDE
Comprised of Robert Wagner (Lead Vocals), Brian Andrew Lee (LeadVocals, Rhythm Guitar), John Lockhart (Lead Guitar, Vocals), Chris Skiles (Drums, Vocals), Danny Swinney (Bass, Vocals), Suede is rocking the Texas club and party scene with five decades of radio rock hits. Veteran musicians with diverse backgrounds, this group artfully mixes talent hailing from past studio work with Black Pearl, Brother Love, Too Smooth, Chamber 36, Brian Andrew Lee, just to name a few, and performances in bands, such as 14K, Calico Kings, The Bizness, Taboo, The Phase, Jukebox Heroes, Kudu Karnival and Texas Unlimited Band. Suede features two incredible lead singers—each with his own unique style—creating an unforgettable, electrifying sound and experience. The band continues to gain popularity as it adds to its fan base by catering to every crowd with a versatility ranging from strong Rock & Roll roots to Rhythm & Blues, and Country. Indeed, some of Suede’s influences are the great radio rock bands such as Journey, Boston, Foreigner, Van Halen, Kansas, Toto, Led Zeppelin, AC/DC, Earth Wind & Fire, et al. Suede proudly opened for southern rock icon .38 Special at the Glass Cactus in Grapevine, TX and received rave reviews!
Two additional bands to be named later will play on the second stage in the hotel.
