Performance Riverside announces open call auditions for professional performers for Elton John and Tim Rice’s Aida, April 12 at 6:30 pm, in the Huntley Gymnasium Dance Studio on the campus of Riverside City College. The production is directed by Gary Krinke, choreographed by John Vaughan, and musically directed by Scott Smith. Performance pay is available.
Please prepare a song (16 bars) appropriate to the material which shows your voice and personality. Have another contrasting song prepared in the event one is requested. Wear clothes appropriate for moving and dancing. All persons who audition must bring a resume, headshot, and a 110-word biography with them. Rehearsals start, with performances June 11, 12, 13, 18, 19, and 20. Come prepared to list any conflicts you have with the rehearsal schedule. Currently casting for the roles of:
AIDA: Lead female mezzo, 19 – 29. Beautiful, noble Nubian Princess.
RADAMES: Lead male tenor, 26 – 38. Heroic, handsome, Egyptian Captain
AMNERIS: Supporting female mezzo, 18 – 30. Beautiful daughter of the Pharaoh
AMONASRO; Cameo male spoken, 40 – 70. King of Nubia and father of Aida.
NEBKAH: Cameo female, 25 – 45. A Nubian slave.
MEREB: Cameo male, Nubian slave and servant to Radames.
ZOSER: Supporting male baritone, 35 – 65. Chief Minister of Egypt, father of Radames.
PHARAOH: Cameo male spoken, 40 – 60. The leader of Egypt and father of Amneris.
ENSEMBLE: Soldiers, Slaves, etc. Range of types, Strong singers and dancers needed.
