Auditions for Moliere's The Learned Ladies
directed by: Michael Emmitt
The āEā Project Theatre Company will be holding auditions for their production of Moliere's The Learned Ladies. Needed are 6 men and 5 women with strong comedic acting skills.
The comic genius of Moliere is as fresh and alive today as it was in the court of Louis the XIV. The Learned Ladies, his most eloquent comedy of manners, takes a look at what happens when being fashionably well read becomes more important than being reasonably smart. A farce that laughs in the face of intellectuals who take themselves too seriously, and shows that common sense and true love always triumph in the end.
Auditions are Friday, April 17th from 4:30pm-6:00pm at The West Colfax Event Center, 9797 W Colfax Ave. (Colfax and Kipling, next to Disguises Costume Shop).
Actors are requested to bring a headshot and resume, and prepare a one-minute classical monologue. Those without monologues will have opportunities to read from the script.
The Learned Ladies opens June 19th, and plays Fridays and Saturday evenings through July 11th, with the exception of 4th of July weekend.
Please call to schedule an appointment: (303) 319-1342, or email: michael@theeproject.org.
Synopsis: Henriette and Clitandre are in love, even more so now that Clitandre has given up wooing Henriette's sister, Armande. When Clitandre asks for permission to marry his new true love the men all seem reasonable enough, but the women of the house are far too busy entertaining poets and scholars to bother with anything so common as marrying for love. The battle of the wits gets more and more hysterical as zanier characters get added to the mix, but a conveniently timed letter sets everything straight, and all is made right by the time the curtain falls.
