ASTROLOGY ESSENTIALS COURSE CLASS PLAN
November 29th - Class 1 - The Signs. Each sign is unique, and uniquely alters the energy of the planets within it. In this class, a detailed examination of the signs and their role in the horoscope will also show how the progression of the signs through the horoscope mirrors personal development. The characteristics of each sign will be discussed in terms of its element, mode and polarity, and how these combine to make each sign unique, and when planets are placed in each sign. At the end of this class, birth information will be obtained, and at the start of the next class, each student will be provided with his or her own birth chart, that will be used for the rest of the course.
December 13th - Class 2 - The "Big Three". In this class, we will examine the three dominant points in the chart, the Sun, the Moon and the Ascendant, and discuss how these points set the tone for the rest of the chart. The placement of each of these in the signs of the horoscope will be discussed, and how the signs alters the energy and meaning of these key points.
December 27th - Class 3 - The Inner Planets. The inner planets, Mercury, Venus and Mars, round out the makeup of the individual personality, building on the base established by the "Big Three". These planets indicate how a person thinks, what they find attractive, how they will react to different experiences, and how they will take action, or even if they will, to go about getting what they want.
January 10th - Class 4 - The Social Planets. From the expansiveness and growth of Jupiter to the structure and restriction of Saturn, these important points have a crucial bearing on how the individual will approach and make use of the fundamental energies that the Big Three and the Inner Planets indicate are the makeup of the personality.
January 24th - Class 5 - The Outer Planets. These slow moving, ponderous planets, Uranus, Neptune and Pluto, are sometimes called the Generational Planets, because they spend so much time in each sign that the their placement can be the same for a whole generation. However, their placement impacts on the individual, because of aspect they make to the planets closer to the Sun.
February 7th - Class 6 - The Houses. The houses have been called the departments of life, the places where a particular energy will affect how that life unfolds. Though they tend not to get the emphasis they should, they are extremely important in understanding why certain themes consistently occur in one's life.
February 21st - Class 7 - The Aspects. These are the interrelationships that occur between planets, angular in nature. We will look at the major aspects, the conjunction, sextile, square, trine, and opposition, and how they impact on the planets' placement, and modify the meaning of those energies and placements. These are absolutely essential in understanding the chart.
March 7th - Class 8 - Putting It All Together. In this final class, all of the previous work will be brought together for the interpretation of the birth chart. The class will be walked through interpreting their own chart, and we will then exchange charts and do a natal reading for each other.
