The Parent Advisory Group of Astor will hold a free Wellness Conference for families, entitled, “Families by Families” on Saturday, May 19, 2012 from 1:00 PM – 5:00 PM at 15 Mt. Carmel Place, Poughkeepsie. The Wellness Conference, sponsored by Astor Services for Children & Families’ Parent/Consumer Advocacy Board, will be a community conversation on Mental Health and positive future outcomes.
The Parent/Consumer Advisory Board is made up of Astor's Family Advocates, parents and caregivers of children in Astor’s programs. Members of the Advisory Board meet monthly to give feedback to the agency on programs, policies and procedures so the family perspective is included in the agency’s decision-making process. Members also outreach to the community to offer support, information and advocacy for children and families. During meetings they network, educate, support and share their experiences to help others in similar situations.
Michael Kelsey, Dutchess County Legislator, will speak at the conference. There will be interactive dialogue from the perspective of the families, a family panel, and a young person’s viewpoints.
