For more than half a century, the world's leading thinkers have gravitated to the Aspen Institute to make progress through open-minded dialogue on the most critical and vexing issues of the day. In July 2009, the tradition continues with the second Aspen Health Forum.
The Institute is known for bringing world leaders and philosophers, executives, advocates, and scholars to the same table. As was the case at our inaugural forum, our 2009 gathering will feature Nobel laureates, health care industry leaders, world-class medical scientists, policymakers, athletes, best-selling authors, journalists, public officials, and interested members of the public, some 500 people in all. It is an opportunity to exchange ideas, distill insights and share new knowledge that will lead to better health for everyone.
Building on the tremendously successful model of the Aspen Ideas Festival, the forum once again will feature major talks and panel discussions for large audiences as well as in-depth, interactive discussions in more intimate settings.
There is no shortage of conferences where scientists can argue about genomes or clinicians can debate the various treatments. Our forum is different. Open to the public, it is the only place where laypeople can go to learn about medical science and its vital implications for their lives, investments, and political interests.
We're proud to bring cutting-edge medical science — so critical to nearly every aspect of our modern lives — to the public square, where it belongs.
