Celebrating Asian American Heritage Foundation, a non-profit all-volunteer organization, announces ASIAFEST ‘09, the 6th Annual Plano Asian American Heritage Festival. ASIAFEST ‘09 will be held in Downtown Plano’s Haggard Park on Saturday May 2. The festival is geared toward the entire family. Admission and parking in City lots are free.
Join us Saturday May 2nd for a fun filled afternoon in the Park. Based on the theme “One World, One Community,” activities will include origami, balloon animal clowns, live music and dance performances, and a variety of Asian food. New this year is a children’s art contest which will be held throughout the day.
Also new, the Dallas Asian American Youth Orchestra will perform and UT Dallas’ Confucius Institute will make a presentation inside the Courtyard Theater adjacent to the west side of the park. Additionally, selected film shorts will be shown in the theater.
Plano Mayor Pat Evans will be on hand to proclaim the first week of May Asian American Heritage Week.
The Festival will feature a wide variety of Asian food from area restaurants. Festival goers are encouraged to come for lunch. Participating restaurants include Joy Luck BBQ, Henry’s Homemade Ice Cream, Mango Thai, 7 Spices, Cassis, Shine’s Mediterranean Market, Masala Wok, and Pinoy Foods.
