Repertorio Espanol presents the premiere of Federico Garcia Lorca's 'Asi que pasen cinco anos' (Once Five Years Pass) directed by the Company's Co-Founder and Artistic Director, Rene Buch. The premiere commemorates the 75th Anniversary of the playwright's assassination during the Spanish Civil War. With this play, Garcia Lorca pushes through boundaries and engages the audience in a theatrical experience where no theme is taboo. In the story, an engaged couple decide to wait five years before getting married. Once five years pass they both realize that time stood still and that the bride-to-be prefers another man. This is one of Garcia Lorca's most elaborate, challenging and least produced plays. It invites the audience to reflect on themes of emotions, pride, sex and gender. The play is performed in Spanish with live simultaneous English translation.
