Plainfield, Illinois 60544

Ash Wednesday, March 9th, is the first of 40 days of Lent, the day on which ashes are placed on the forehead in the shape of a cross. Ashes serve a dual purpose. First, we are reminded of our mortality and humanity as we begin the Lenten Fast. Second, the ashes symbolize repentance, sorrow, and humility.

St. Mary Immaculate Parish in Plainfield will distribute ashes after Masses in English at 7:30 am, 8:45 am, and noon in the parish Church. From 1:00 pm to 6:30 pm, ashes will be distributed in the Church by Parish Deacons and following Benediction at 6:30 pm. Masses are also scheduled in English at 7:00 pm in the Church and in Spanish at 7:00 pm in the Parish Gym.

St. Mary Immaculate Parish is located at 15629 South Rt. 559 in Plainfield. For more information call 815-436-1651 or visit www.smip.org.
