A duke usurps his brother's land and power. The banished brother and his retinue take to the forest, as does his daughter, Rosalind, who disguises herself as a man. Although Rosalind is in love with Orlando, once disguised as a man, she attracts the romantic interest of a shepherdess - setting the stage for Elizabethan hijinks.
