Arvada Celebrates the Fourth
Spectacular Fireworks and Free Family Fun on July 4
All we have of freedom, all we use or know - This our fathers bought for us long and long ago.
~Rudyard Kipling, The Old Issue, 1899
On Sunday, July 4 live music and fireworks highlight the city of Arvada’s celebration of the Spirit of America.
The festivities begin at 3:00 p.m. at the Lutz/Stengler Sports Complex as the Arvada Festivals Commission, the City of Arvada, KOOL 105 Radio and Apex Park and Recreation District partner to bring you a day of free family fun to celebrate our Nation’s Birthday featuring a classic car show, a military display, live music, family entertainment, kid’s amusements, great food and a spectacular Fourth of July fireworks display. The complex is located at 58th and Ralston Road in Arvada.
Music is provided by the legendary KOOL 105 Radio, featuring classic rock hits from the 60’s to the 90’s. This year’s entertainment will play all afternoon including DJ music and a live band.
The fireworks display begins at about 9:00 p.m. and the olorful blasts of light will dance to the KOOL 105 simulcast music medley especially choreographed to a collection of great oldies and patriotic music.
“Arvada’s fireworks show is over thirty years old,” event coordinator Nancy Bentzen says. “First and foremost, we provide a free fun family event and a safe way to view fireworks and celebrate our nation’s Independence Day. Many hours are spent planning and producing the celebration and about 150 workers, including paid staff and volunteers, give up their holiday to spend over 1000 person hours creating fun for our guests.”
Other free family-friendly events to keep you entertained throughout the afternoon and evening include:
• Kids’ Park featuring several inflatable’s, temporary face tattoos, video games, and more fun activities;
• Mini Classic Car Show;
• Arvada Fire Protection District's Safety House;
• Fire trucks and emergency vehicles on display from Arvada Fire Protection District and Pridemark;
• A military display provided by the Marines;
• Craft booths and games;
• Face painting and balloon artists;
• A midway with community booths and patriotic items for sale;
• Food and drinks concession stands and carts.
Arvada’s Fourth of July event is going green with recycling receptacles placed throughout the event venue, encouraging all patrons to recycle!
