Arts United of Washington has been integrating live music, dance and theater for the past four years in the Washington Metro Area. The Scenic Route is the third original production for the company whom The Washington Post stated has "something new to offer.” Inspired by the freedom to find one's own direction as characterized in Jack Kerouac's On the Road; live rock, jazz and folk music by songwriters from across the country drive the show. Dancer Magazine claimed "The dancer's charm, gusto, skill and humor enveloped the journey." Providing snapshots of American life through a fresh blend of new songs, dance and photography, Arts United of Washington steers the journey from big city to small town. Musicians, who play “equally well across a range of styles from freewheeling jazz to hard rock to country” (The Washington Post), are joined by vocalist Lori Williams whose smoky voice has been compared to the late Ella Fitzgerald.
