Step back in time and discover the arts that were once a part of daily survival as Fort Nisqually Living History Museum presents Arts of the Fur Trade from 11am to 4pm on Saturday, November 5, 2011. Fort visitors will experience how everyday works of art played an important part of the daily life of the mid-1800s. Re-enactors and artisans in period clothing will demonstrate old-time skills such as spinning, silversmithing, blacksmithing, woodworking, open-fire cooking and Native American basketweaving. Located in Tacoma's Point Defiance Park, Fort Nisqually is a restoration of the Hudson's Bay Company outpost on the Puget Sound where visitors can travel back in time to the year 1855 and experience life in Washington Territory during the Fur Trade era. For additional information, please contact Fort Nisqually at (253) 591-5339 or fortnisqually@tacomaparks.com.
