Noe Valley Chamber Music presents: Jonathan Dimmock's AVE (Artists' Vocal Ensemble)
NVCM welcomes back one of the Bay Area's premier choral groups to its stage. Highly acclaimed by critics and audiences alike, AVE has been hosted for an international tour and has recorded several CDs. Under the direction of Jonathan Dimmock, the small chamber choir will offer a Bach motet and Mozart Mass accompanied by period instruments.
Founded in 2004, Artists' Vocal Ensemble (AVE) brings to life many of the lost masterworks from the Renaissance and Tudor periods, using informed performance style and highly trained singers. While presenting programs of scholarly interest, AVE strives to create experiences that are emotional, spiritual, and contemplative.
Jonathan Dimmock, director, began his musical career at age 14 and has spent the following four decades conducting choirs all around the USA and Europe. Highly regarded as a keyboard player, he has recorded more than 35 CDs - including receiving a Grammy Award for his work with the San Francisco Symphony. Jonathan is a graduate of Oberlin and Yale and went on to serve as Organ Scholar at Westminster Abbey. He then returned to the United States and has worked in three cathedrals: St. John the Divine in New York, St. Mark's in Minneapolis, and Grace in San Francisco.
The performance takes place on Sunday, March 24th at San Francisco's Holy Innocents Church at 455 Fair Oaks. The concert begins at 4pm, with a pre-concert talk at 3:15 featuring Jonathan Dimmock in conversation about the choir and his role. Tickets are $22.50 in advance, $18 for students and seniors, and $25/$20 at the door.
Noe Valley Chamber Music (NVCM) has been presenting superb chamber music in San Francisco since 1992. NVCM audiences hear and meet the Bay Area's finest musicians, ensembles, and vocalists in the authentic, yet informal, chamber music tradition. A new CD, "Celebration!
