411 State St
Erie, Pennsylvania 16501

Located In the Main Floor Gallery. Featuring works by John Sloan, Mary Cassatt, and Henry Ossawa Tanner, this exhibition explores how Realism maintained its prevalence among Pennsylvania painters during a period in which abstraction was beginning to make prominent inroads into American art. This show features two pieces from the Erie Art Museum’s permanent collection by Erie’s most influential twentieth century painters, George Ericson and his student Joseph Plavcan. The second in a series of exhibitions highlighting significant Pennsylvania painters, the exhibit was organized by the Westmoreland Museum of American Art in collaboration with the Erie Art Museum and the Southern Alleghenies Museum of Art.
