Circus Gone Bad Series
This series began from a cardboard model that I was making for a ‘serious’ metal sculpture. Before I committed myself to the steel fabrication, I wanted to get an idea of what it would look like. So, I fabricated a basic model out of cardboard, hot glue and poster paints. After completing this stage, it reminded me of a Third World store sign or a cheap circus poster. I decided to ‘take the rest of the day off’ and explore my feelings.
After installing a neon element, I elaborated the painted details and placed a few of my daughter’s toy animals and doll heads inside the creation. To my surprise, I said to myself….” I think this is art!” And Circus Gone Bad was born.
I laughed and smiled throughout this entire series. It was such a pleasant vacation from my ‘serious work’!
Each one has its own meaning and hopefully poignant message.
This is a one time only series.. Hopefully, it will put a smile on your face and a laugh in your belly. Like a circus should.

I have a life long interest in photography and the arts. My physician father was too busy to use the photography equipment he loved to purchase so I had available to me some very nice camera and darkroom equipment to play with and experiment. At first I was only concerned with the process of making a photograph and later became more focused as I learned about composition and lighting. As my exposure to other photographers and artists expanded I was able to take on more direction and make my photography more personal and focused. I am now working only with digital equipment for both the exposure and the print. I print all the photographs myself which allows for the greatest control and spontaneous creative experimentation.

Peacemaker Series: A series of portraits made at the rallies and marches in San Francisco that occured before and up to the second anniversary of the invasion of Iraq. Those that took the time to look behind the headlines knew that we once again were being manipulated and lied to. Those that spoke out were again being characterized as unpatriotic, not supportive of the troops, and soft on terrorism. The purpose of the series is to show that those who spoke out and marched were ordinary people from all walks of life. Now that the lies have been exposed they have been proven to be right and once again the people have been shown to have more vision and courage than many of their leaders.
