Artist Paints with Five-Foot Tall
Horse Hair Brush, Among Other Tools
BETHLEHEM, PA – Artist Damini Celebre of Philadelphia will demonstrate the art of Asian brushwork, using her unique brush collection ranging in size from a few centimeters, to a mammoth five foot tall brush toting seven pounds of horse hair, Friday, Fri. Jan 11, 2008, 6:30 p.m., Ambre’ Studio, 310 West Broad Street, Bethlehem, PA.
The demonstration coincides with the exhibit “Asian Aesthetics, Lacquer and Gold and the Art of Nothingness,” November 14, to January 18, 2008.
Ms. Celebre will line the floor of the spacious, historic Ambre’ Studio with paper and linen, then, dipping one of her unique brushes into ink, demonstrate how she moves brush across paper, in one Zen-like movement.
The artist, who is also an acupuncturist, utilizes a collection of brushes ranging in size from one with only five hairs, another with her poodle’s hair, a brush made of rooster tail, a large, pouffy ‘barbecue mop” or her latest creation, the aforementioned 5-foot tall horse hair tool.
Snow date for the demonstration is Fri. Jan 18, 6:30 p.m., 2008.
