At the Main Event, the audience votes on their three favorite of 32 paintings displayed. (Entrants painted their works in four hours on June 3 using identical materials. The top 32 emerged from online voting on artvsart.com from June 4-15.) While the crowd judges the art, they can enjoy food and drink, music, DJs, and an acoustic performance by Otis Gibbs. The 16 paintings with the most votes will compete for the $2,000 grand prize, battling it out to see whos da 2006 champ.

The process pits two randomly selected paintings head-to-head on stage. Crowd response (noise level) will determine which of the two paintings advances to the next round of judging. Heres the twist of Art vs. Art. The losing paintings face on-the-spot destruction and in a dramatic fashion, i.e. chainsaws, acid bath, samurai sword, etc. The fate of a painting and mode of destruction are determined by a spin of the Wheel of Death. A losing painting can only be saved from its impending doom if someone purchases the painting for the minimum purchase price. If more than one person is willing to purchase the painting, it will be awarded to the highest bidder. If no one purchases the painting, its destroyed. Completely annihilated.
