Art Therapy Workshop 1 - Drawings: A Window to the Subconscious. Drawings can be seen as 'leakage from one's subconscious' and can be a powerful tool to understand clients' subconscious and psyche. Drawings have been used and continue to be used as a tool in counselling relationships by the counsellors, teachers, medical professionals, social workers, psychiatrists, etc. in many countries. Seen as an important tool when working with children they can easily be used with adolescents and adults. This 4 day workshop aims to teach to participants how to understand drawings and what to look for in drawings to achieve the task of understanding client's world better. Will use media that have been published in different countries by different professionals, combined with Ercan Bekat's own experiences in working with drawings. Beside the theory input, participants will get a chance to put their learning in to practice during the workshop. The workshop is open to counsellors, therapists, teachers, social workers and anyone interested in understanding themselves using art. Ercan Bekat - is a UK registered counsellor / therapist and a member of British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy. He completed his University diploma in education in Turkey in Education Psychology and Teaching Art. After moving to UK, he completed his studies on Therapeutic Counselling at the University of Greenwich at the PG level. Ercan has worked in Turkey, UK, India and Australia, with different agencies, organizations, with different client groups such as University students, survivors of torture and rape, LGBT client groups, adults, adolescents, children, couples and families. His keen interest in art, combined with counselling training, results in his use of art in his work as a counsellor and a counselling trainer. Thursday and Friday 10:00am to 5:00pm, Saturday and Sunday 12:noon to 5:00 pm.
