This year’s presentation of the Weatherspoon’s “Art on Paper” biennial exhibition showcases more than 100 unique works made on (or of) paper by both emerging and established artists from across the U.S., as well as from Canada and Europe. “Art on Paper 2006” is curated by Xandra Eden and includes work by Joshua Abelow, Assume Vivid Astro Focus, Amie Dicke, Ann Diener, Inka Essenhigh, Elise Engler, Franklin Evans, Christian Holstad, Ken Kotara, Marco Maggi, Mario Marzan, Dominic McGill, Ed Pien, Robert Pruitt, Peter Saul, and Saya Woolfalk, among many others. The Weatherspoon will publish a small catalogue to accompany “AOP 2006” containing reproductions of selected works and a full exhibition checklist.
“Art on Paper” represents a forty-year partnership between the Weatherspoon Art Museum and xpedx (formerly Dillard Paper Company). xpedx’s long-standing sponsorship of “Art on Paper” has allowed for not only the presentation of “Art on Paper” since 1965, but also for the purchase of a number of works from each year’s exhibition. Today, the nationally recognized Dillard Collection numbers nearly 600 works by artists such as Louise Bourgeois, Eva Hesse, Brice Marden, Roni Horn and Matthew Ritchie. Catalogue.
