Art History Senior Capstone - Art of the 1970s June 20, 2012

Curated by students in Professor Pepper Stetler's ART498: Capstone Seminar in Art and Architecture History, this exhibition highlights the proliferation of artistic movements and styles that defined the international art world of the 1970s. The exhibition features photographs, prints, paintings, and sculpture by influential artists such as Vito Acconci, Buckminster Fuller, Robert Motherwell, Louise Nevelson, Claes Oldenburg, James Rosenquist, and Frank Stella. The exhibition positions art of the 1970s at the end of the modern era and highlights the reevaluation of what counts as art that occurred during this decade. Artists from this time period also engaged with key social movements and political events.
