For their new book from Arcadia Publishing, RMS Queen Mary, the authors--Suzanne Tarbell Cooper, Frank Cooper, Athene Mihalakis Kovacic and John Thomas, who are all board members of the Art Deco Society of Los Angeles, and Don Lynch, the best selling author of Titanic, An Illustrated History -were given unprecedented access to the archives of the ship. Join them for a book-signing and hour-long lecture illustrated with archival photos tracing the history of the ship that once kept movie stars, tycoons, and royalty cocooned in luxury on the chilly Atlantic crossing, through the dangerous years of World War II, to her final home in Long Beach. Throughout her varied career, the Queen Mary has been a generous showcase of art, an icon of speed and style, and a magnificent example of a time when oceans could be crossed in both comfort and beauty. All proceeds from the book support restoration of the art aboard the Queen Mary. Booksigning with the authors will precede the lecture from 4 - 4:30 PM.
