Art, beer & food - #evfn at Studios 5C Gallery in Tempe September 4, 2009

You look like you need some culture. Studios 5C is always a great place to get that, with plenty of beer, wine and hors d'oeuvres sponsored by Lunchbox Collective. Oh, and an artshow.

This month they are featuring the artwork of Logan Bellew. He is currently a student at Arizona State University in both the School of Art and the Barrett Honors College working his way towards a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in photography. His installation is called "Clean #2". Here's his explanation.

There is an amount of futility in trying to regain that which has been lost. If we manage to recover it, our experience will forever be filtered through the memory of that loss. In this exhibition of photographs, I have tried to identify the process of cleaning with the experience of loss, using the former as a metaphor for the later. In the photographs, the process of cleaning debris from the body illustrates how all of the elements that exist before the cleaning process still exist even after it is completed. However, the process of cleaning - like loss - alters the results indefinitely.

This promises to be a big event, as it's a Light Rail tweetup and *I think* an #lrfn gathering, too. Killing all sorts of birds with one beer bottle!
