Art and Writing Contest & Exhibition - The Future and the Past April 28, 2008

Philipse Manor Hall State Historic Site is sponsoring a summer art and writing contest, The Future and the Past, open to all ages, culminating in an exhibition and ice cream social!

Our art and writing contest encourages participants to channel the past or imagine the future of the city of Yonkers. Participants are encouraged to visit the Manor in order to get ideas for their entry, but may also let their work spring completely from the imagination. All entries, however, must follow the theme of considering Yonkers either in the past or in the future.

Participants may submit art or writing. All artistic media will be accepted, and writing entries may be submitted in the following genres: Poetry, Short Story, Essay, and Play. There are five age categories for this contest: Under 5, Child: 6-9, Pre-teen: 10-12, Teen: 13-17, and Adult: 18 +. Prizes for winning entries include our Winner's Exhibition (other contestants may be featured depending upon space requirements), preference for future exhibition, and a selection of the following: one-year membership to Philipse Manor, art kits, journals, decorative lamp shades, frames, name plates, and more.

The deadline for this contest is July 11th, 2008. The Winner's Exhibition and Ice Cream Social will be held Saturday, August 2nd, 2008.
