Music may be the food of love, but it’s also a journey for both body and soul. Our musical Grand Tour begins in the great halls of Europe, with Bach’s “Musical Offering” for Frederick the Great, one of Telemann’s “Paris Quartets,” and a Bach cantata for Prince Leopold of Cöthen’s birthday. Featured artists include Baroque violinist Adam LaMotte, Baroque flautist Colin St. Martin, soprano Melissa Givens, and tenor Eduardo Tercero.
Ars Lyrica’s 2009-2010 season offers a fantastic musical excursion: London, Naples, Paris, and Rome await — and you don’t need to get on an airplane or pack a bag! Our musical “Grand Tour” follows a path trod by generations of young people to soak up the culture of distant nations. What they heard is what’s on our menu: some of the most extraordinary music of the Baroque era, realized on period instruments in the superb acoustics of the Hobby Center’s Zilkha Hall.
