What? Democracy in Cuba?!?
A talk by
Arnold August
Author, _Democracy in Cuba_
Thanks to anti-Cuba propaganda, most Americans still don't realize that Cuba holds regular elections at all levels of government, local through national. With U.S. interest in meddling in Cuba at an all-time high because of Fidel Castro's departure from power, it is especially important that activists in particular know more about Cuba's democratic system.
Few people in North America know that system as well as Canadian scholar and activist Arnold August, who has spent decades researching its unique organization and has written many articles and a well-respected book on the subject. He recently spent several months in Cuba working on his forthcoming book _Cuba: Participatory Democracy and Elections in the 21st Century_.
