The Chairman of Huntingdonshire District Council will lead a special ceremony to honour our Armed Forces.

Councillor Jeff Dutton will raise a specially designed Armed Forces Day flag at 10.30am on Monday 21 June 2010 at Pathfinder House, outside the council’s headquarters in Huntingdon in support of this special event. Representatives from across the Armed Forces will also be in attendance.

The ceremony will start at 10 am and the public are invited to attend to show their support for Armed Forces day. The ceremony will include the release of balloons dedicated to service personnel, words of remembrance by Reverend A Milton, followed by Last Post and a minute’s silence. This will coincide with other flag raising events being held nationwide.

Councillor Jeff Dutton said: “It is an honour to be able to show our support for the armed forces in what is a nationwide celebration. The event enables us to pay tribute to the marvellous work and dedication of our armed forces and I encourage members of the pubic to join us on 21 June.”

This event takes place every year to celebrate and show appreciation of the UK’s Armed Forces – past, present and future.

Please note that there is no on-site parking at Pathfinder House but pay and display car parks are available nearby at Mill Common or Princes Street.
