ARCH presents
an important theatrical event for the whole community:
Medal of Honor Rag
by Tom Cole
“Medal of Honor Rag” is a deeply powerful drama about the effects of combat on our soldiers, after they return to the US from active duty on foreign soil.
When a soldier returns home from violent combat in a war zone, he carries hidden wounds and scars. For many of our soldiers, the return to civilian life is a deeply painful process.
“Medal of Honor Rag” sheds dramatic light on this widespread predicament, by presenting one soldier’s session with a psychiatrist in an army hospital.
The play is based on the true story of a US soldier who won the Medal of Honor for extreme valor in combat, but had great difficulty transitioning back to normal life on his return to the US.
“Medal of Honor Rag” gives voice to all our veterans, and speaks to all their caring and loving families, friends, and fellow soldiers across time. Tom Cole’s “Medal of Honor Rag” has been performed to sold-out houses in theaters all around the US, from its first Off-Broadway debut in New York in1976, to Hollywood’s Egyptian Arena Theater in 2005. It was broadcast nationally in 1982, in the American Playhouse series on PBS.
This presentation of "Medal of Honor Rag" is produced by ARCH, a nonprofit 501(c)3 organization dedicated to showcasing significant historical and cultural matter that is disappearing or neglected for many reasons. ARCH is the acronym for the Association for the Retention of Cultural Heritages. ARCH’s website is presently undergoing renovation and will be available again shortly.
