Celebrate Arbor Day in Houston on January 29 and learn all about native trees that are great for the landscape. The celebration begins at 10 a.m.
Tree seedlings will be available for a small donation and larger native trees and shrubs will be available for sale. Arboretum staff and volunteers will give tree planting demonstrations and tree tours. Members of the Woodworkers Club of Houston will be on hand demonstrating their crafts. Kids’ activities will include papermaking, face painting, puzzle hikes, recycled paper hats, leaf rubbings and more. Arboretum mascot HANC the Owl and other costumed characters will be stopping by too! There will also be two storytelling sessions of the book, “The Man Who Planted Trees,” one at 11 a.m. and again at 1 p.m.
Admission to Arbor Day Celebration is free; admission to the Houston Arboretum is free every day; donations are appreciated.
