The Whooping Crane has become an international symbol for conservation efforts for endangered species. Once numbering only 15 individuals, the bird has grown to a population of almost 300 due to joint efforts of the U.S. and Canadian governments. This majestic bird breeds in Wood Buffalo National Park in Canada and winters on the Texas coast at Aransas National Wildlife Refuge.
We will travel by van to Aransas for an afternoon tour and return to Rockport for an overnight stay, The next morning we’ll take a charter boat into the marshes of Aransas to see the cranes and many other species of wildlife, Following the 4-hr boat trip, we’ll return to Houston. Price includes transportation, hotel, breakfast, and boat fees.
Dates: Depart Arboretum around 8 a.m. on December 4 and return around 7 p.m. on December 5.
