What's a Korean Style Spa, you might ask? In a nutshell, it is a gender-segregated fully nude spa facility with a hot tub, dry and steam sauna, clay sauna, rest area, cold plunge tub and showers. They also offer Korean Style Spa Treatments such as exfoliation and oil massage. Their best selling item is the combination of exfoliation and oil massage which lasts 80 minutes for $90. The interesting part is that you won't have privacy while getting your treatment. There are a few tables at one side of the spa facility (nice and warm), and that's where you will get your treatments. So, not for the modest, or someone who need total peace and quietness to fully enjoy the treatment. But, it is great for someone who want to shed that extra dead skin (you will be amazed at how much dead skin rolls out of you!), get invigorating massage including head shampoo and face pack and all. If you just want to hang with the girls at the spa, it is $20 per person for all day. They offer tea and water for free, so you won't get dehydrated.
Many of you probably are thinking..."What? Go naked in front of strangers? Are you nuts?" Right. I am nuts, but that's besides the point. In Japan and Korea, communal bath is a tradition and we grow up with looking at all the friends' and relatives' (yeah, including in-laws) naked body. For some reason, it is totally accepted and OK to be nude in front of other people of the same gender. What does this do? First, you feel silly for feeling self-conscious for being naked. Everyone else is naked, and not everyone is like a model, trust me :) Second, you understand that naked body is beautiful, whatever the shape you are in. It is amazing how comfortable you will feel in your own skin just because you owned your naked body in front of other people.
So, if you feel a bit brave, join us. We can talk about sex, of course, but this is not a sexual get-together. So, don't worry, nobody will be making a move on you :) It is just simple, casual, all-girl fun.
After the spa, if anyone is up for it, we can go for Korean food! Korean BBQ is super yummy, and there are other super yummy food, including for you, Vegetarians :)
