Four below-the-radar artists come out of the woodwork this evening to display their latest original works at Equator Books. With three distinct styles, each exhibits a take on pop culture, consumerism, sexuality, and image. The most straightforward is Give (aka Albert Reyes), whose images of corporate America and Hollywood make frank observations on modern society. Matthew Weidmann takes a more colorful approach, all the while maintaining modesty with his outsider approach. Neil Wax debuts his mysterious "Abject Goods," and John Evans rounds out the foursome with crayon-like drawings depicting curiously innocent carnal imagery. Join the festivities on this April Fool's Day and experience firsthand three convincing arguments for the rebirth of the LA underground art scene. (MG)
