Richard Lang: "From Stonehenge to Shadow Puppets to Electric Works: Biological Models for Understanding our Place as the Creative Class."
Richard Lang is a visual artist, writer and one of the principals of Electric Works, a fine art printmaking studio and gallery in San Francisco. Recognized for its innovative, multi-media approach to printing, Electric Works is known to its admirers as the "Land of Yes."
Not a political lecture per se, Lang will nonetheless speak about how art can affect and organize the body politic. From how the arts of Indonesia saved their rice farming culture, to the discovery of Stonehenge as a complex timepiece organizing that society, to the Northwest coast culture of the Potlatch, Lang will tell us how these ideas ultimately inspired the unique, multi-tiered organization at Electric Works.
