Course Description
This two-day, hands-on course introduces students to the features and interface of iLife. iLife is a suite of digital authoring tools that comes with every Mac: iPhoto, iMovie, GarageBand, iDVD, and iWeb. You will learn to create media-rich digital projects, and share them online with a few clicks. You will also learn to easily create stunning music, websites, and photo books, and enjoy your photos and videos in exciting new ways.
Who Should Attend?
This class is designed for anyone who prefers hands-on and interactive instruction to best explore the functionality of the iLife applications. Please note that this course does not cover all chapters in the book. For example, working with iDVD and creating music with Magic GarageBand are not covered. However, students are free to continue the lessons on their own as all the files needed to complete the exercises are included on the DVD that accompanies the book.
Certification
This course does cover all lessons required to prepare for the Apple Certified Associate, iLife exam. The exam fee is already included in the cost of the class, a $65 value.

Lesson 1: Getting Photos into iPhoto
• Shooting Pictures, Connecting Your Camera to iPhoto, Importing Pictures from a Camera or Card, Importing Video from a Camera, and Importing Picture Files
Lesson 2: Arranging Your Pictures
• Viewing Pictures, Organizing Your Events, Building Picture Albums, Hiding and Discarding Pictures, Describing your Pictures and Searching Your iPhoto Library
Lesson 3: Editing Your Pictures
• Cropping Pictures, Rotating and Strengthening Pictures, Touching Up Pictures, and Applying Adjustments and Effects
Lesson 4: Sharing a Movie
• Using iTunes to Share a Movie, on Your iPod, iPhone or Apple TV, Posting Your Movie on YouTube, Putting a Movie in Your .Mac Web Gallery, Publishing a Movie to the iLife Media Browser, and Exporting a QuickTime Movie
Lesson 5: Editing Your Movie
• Organizing Your Workspace, Skimming Video to Select Shots, Working with Advanced Tools, Using Keywords, Assembling Your Edit, Shaping the Narrative, Extracting and Shifting Audio, Using a Variety of Shots, and Recording a Voiceover
Lesson 6: Finishing Your Movie
• Trimming to Perfect Your Edit, Adding Still Images to your Movie, Rotating a Photo, Creating a Still Image from Your Video, Creating Transitions, Correcting Color, Adjusting Color to Create Effects, and Adding Titles and Credits

Lesson 7: Working with Audio in iMovie
• Adjusting Audio Tracks and Sound Levels, Adding Sound Effects and Adding Music
Lesson 8: Scoring an iMovie or QuickTime Video
• Creating a New Movie Score Project, Working with Video Files in the Media Browser, Preparing the Project for Scoring, Building a Soundtrack in the Timeline, Using Track Automation Curves, Monitoring Tracks, Working with a Software Instrument Loop, and Sharing a GarageBand Project
Lesson 9: Recording a Podcast
• Creating a New Podcast Project, Editing the Podcast, Working with Artwork and Markers, and Adding Episode Info to a Podcast
Lesson 10: Creating a Website
• Deciding the Site’s Purpose, Choosing a Template, Making the Homepage, Publishing the Site and Adding and Linking New Pages
Lesson 11: Creating Blogs, Photo Pages and Podcasts
• Building a Photo Page, Building a Blog, and Making a Podcast
