Anti-Spyware Coalition (ASC) Public Workshop: The Chain of Trust May 19, 2009

On Tuesday, May 19th, ASC will announce the launch of a new initiative to combat Internet "malware."

Comprised of the world's leading anti-spyware companies and public interest advocates, the ASC has been a leader in bringing the problem of nuisance adware under control. Now, ASC is poised to shift its focus to stamping out malware. Details of the initiative will be unveiled at the start of the one-day event.

Keynoting the event will be FBI Assistant Director Shawn Henry, who leads the bureau's computer crime effort.

Other speakers include:
Alan Paller of the SANS Institute
Jeff Fox of Consumers Union
Ari Schwartz of the Center for Democracy and Technology (CDT).

Panelists at the event will discuss the economics of cybercrime, stalker spyware, rogue anti-spyware, and so-called malvertising in which criminals hijack ad spaces in order to serve malware.

This event is free to press, government, ASC members, educational and nonprofit attendees. Corporate attendees must pay a $250 registration fee.
