Stand-up, fiction, commentary, poetry, rants, it's all good at this weekly open event in it's second decade. The Anti-Slam moves to a new venue, Mo Pitkins, temporarily while the Downeast Arts Center undergoes a make-over.
Abide by a few house rules -- don't trash the house, don't mug the audience, no chair throwing... All performers guaranteed straight tens from the judges.
Lower East Side impresario/artist Rev. Jen Miller (herself a work of art from her go-go boots to the tips of her elfen ears) began the Anti-Slam back in 1995 in reaction to the Poetry Slam movement on the Lower East Side of Manhattan. At a poetry slam, performers are given a score of 1-10 by a panel of three judges, while at an anti-slam, all participants are given a perfect ten.
$4 per person.
