Antarctica: The Mariners' Museum in the Secret Land February 7, 2009

Join us to explore the magical and secret land of Antarctica. Your entire family will enjoy special activities and a temporary exhibition focusing on the Museum’s most noted relationships with Antarctica: explorations by former Museum Director Rear Admiral George Dufek and Museum Conservator Susanne Grieve. Activities will include presentations by Grieve; a screening of the 1948 Oscar-winning documentary The Secret Land (featuring Robert Montgomery, Van Heflin, Robert Taylor, and Dufek); a lecture by Stuart Klipper (author of The Antarctic: From the Circle to the Pole); polar music performances by Bob Zentz; children’s craft activities; environmental education activities; and more. All activities are free with Museum admission.
