"Sudakshini," loosely translated, means a beautiful journey South or Southwards. This performance will feature new compositions by Anoushka all entirely in south-Indian ragas, plus a selection of traditional south Indian traditional pieces. Of particular interest here is the fact that one rarely - if ever - sees a sitar playing south-Indian music; Anoushka will be using this tour to explore the relation between north and south India. She sees it as a grand experiment and musical journey where the sitar travels southwards - hence the name Sudakshini.
Concert Lineup:
Anoushka Shankar - sitar
Tanmoy Bose - tabla, kanjira
Pirashanna Thevarajah - mridangam, kanjira, ghatam
Ravichandra Kulur - flute and kanjira
Tanpura accompaniment
