ANORAKISM
Ein ANORAK ist in Britischem Slang ein "geek"
oder "nerd", also Jemand, der ein für die
Mehrheit der Bevölkerung unergründliches
interesse an bestimmten Details und Informationen
hat. ANORAKISM ist Nerdismus mit großer
musikalischer Leidenschaft für minimale,
experimentelle und innovative elektronische Musik.

Paizan started aus der Idee ihrer Anorak
Club-Nights (wo Leute wie Portable, Steevio, Tom
Ellis gespielt haben) in Leeds ihr neues Label
ANORAKISM. Der erste Release wird eine Double
A-Side Split-Single zwischen Caro Snatch und
Dr.Nojoke sein, wobei jeder der beiden einen
Original-Track beiträgt und jeweils einen Remix
des Anderen.

CARO SNATCH
has scaled a somewhat steep learning curve after
only touching her first musical instrument 8
years ago by default after back surgery. She
started to play with machines whilst laid up in
bed and now, 2 EPs (Xstatic Records - Scotland &
Phonector - Berlin), a few compilations ("Girl
Monster" on Chicks on Speed - Munich, Wired
Records - Berlin & La Mue - Paris) and her fair
share of gigs later, the time is ripe for a
thoroughly considered album. Caro was nurtured in
Newcastle-upon Tyne's electronic scene and for
the last year of so has further advanced in the
creative hub that is Berlin - supported by the
Arts Council North East - where she has been
recording, producing, gigging, collaborating
(with musicians, visual artists and fashion
designers) and organising "Rare as Green Dog"
electronic music events. This hardware poetess is
not confined to category nor sub genre as she
pursues her own authentic expression producing a
refreshingly unique and personal sound. There is
however a notable common theme of deep broken
beats, fat bass, unconventional structures and
multi-lingual word manipulation. Musical
references include Bjork, Laurie Anderson, M.I.A,
Kate Wax and "a cyber punk Debbie Harry" (Crack
magazine, UK). This is the debut album from what
the BBC described as a "one woman electronic
avalanche". Caro creates "mood music with an
improvisatory feel" (Lucy O'Brien, Girl Monster
sleeve notes) exploring aspects of the human and
feminine condition in a profound way and with a
rather British dry sense of humour.

DR.NOJOKE
ist in Berlin geboren und sofort dageblieben.
Seine Kindheit war vom Plärren des
Mono-Küchen-Radios geprägt; in seiner Jugend zog
er sich gerne zu Kopfhörer-Trips mit
elektronischer und progressiver Musik zurück. Der
Musik-Unterricht in der Schule war ein Desaster,
doch die erste Gitarre kam genauso unvermeidlich
wie Punk!
Nach den ersten Eigenproduktionen Die
Hypnokommode und Flub-Dubs 1 und 2 veröffentlicht
Dr.Nojoke im Dezember 2004 sein Debut Album
Flucht nach Barbylon auf dem Label phonector. Das
zweite Album Barbylon Tapes II folgte im Februar
2006, ebenfalls auf phonector, gefolgt von
Releases auf Netlabels wie Direktschall,
Idealtechno, Yuki Yaki, Equaliteq, Antiritmo und
FOEM und einem Remix für Rosenstolz. Momentan
arbeitet Dr.Nojoke an Remixes für Ferri Borbas
aka Minimal Ferri, Cosmic Sandwich und Anne Clark.
Seit Anfang des Jahres 2005 arbeitet Dr.Nojoke an
technoiden Klangskulpturen und greift dabei auf
sein Archiv eigener Aufnahmen zurück, die im
Laufe der Jahre entstanden sind. Er definiert
eine deepe, funky-minimale, clickernde
Micro-Cut-Up Musik, die er Clikno nennt.
