"For sheer radiance... no one else comes close" (Billboard)
Renowned for their unearthly vocal blend and unmatched medieval repertoire, Anonymous 4 (Susan Hellauer, Marsha Genensky, Johanna Maria Rose & Jacqueline Horner) joins PCMS on Friday, December 12 at Saint Mark's Church. Anonymous 4, which drew its name from an unsigned medieval treatise at the Cathedral of Notre Dame around 1200, combines musical, literary, and historical scholarship with contemporary performance.
"Anonymous 4 is singular in its ability to evoke the chilling ache of spiritual yearning," states a review in The Absolute Sound, "both vocally and instrumentally." Having recently expanded their repertoire to include traditional music of the British Isles and America, the ensemble has appeared on numerous radio and television programs, including Garrison Keillor's "A Prairie Home Companion," "CBS Sunday Morning," A&E's "Breakfast With the Arts," and NPR's "Weekend Edition."
